Our Programs

We are back to providing several after-school enrichment and youth development programs at Ponce de Leon Middle School and Gibson-Bethel Community Center for the 2022-2023 school year. Our after-school programs have been provided since 2016 and have included Tutoring, Anti-bullying, Cultural Arts, Mentoring, Dance, Homework Help, STEM Robotics and Post-Secondary Planning.

We continue providing our Home Team Empowerment Program at the Gibson-Bethel Community Center which includes Anti-Bullying, Jujitsu, Homework Assistance, STEM, Mentoring, Dance and Social, Emotional & Cognitive Learning and Discussion.

At Ponce de Leon Middle School, we are once again providing our STEM Robotics and Homework Help Programs.

These programs continue today and are made possible thanks to the generosity and partnerships with the City of South Miami, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, The University of Miami, The Children’s Trust, Monat Gratitude, The Coral Gables Rotary Club, The Key Biscayne Community Foundation, Dicks Sporting Goods, The Sylvester Foundation, District 7 Commissioner Raquel Regalado, Zen’s Anti-Bullying, Pack of Dogs, Thriveon Enrichment, Trustforte, the Les Paul Foundation, the Cyril F. and Marie O’Neil Foundation and GaiaBits.

 

STEM - ROBOTICS & coding

This program teaches concepts that enables students to build and program their own robots with the ability to receive commands directed using tablets, computers and smart phones.


Previous programs

The 2021-22 school year was very successful. We were able to offer 5 programs at 3 different locations. While offering 214 program days in the school year, we were able to provide 475 program hours, 1,150 meals to 112 students in our community.

POST SECONDARY OPPORTUNITIES

We work with students to determine the optimal post-secondary options for each individual. Based on individual preferences and skills, we help identify the most suitable university, community college, technical education, culinary arts education, and vocational training programs. In partnership with The Trustforte Corporation, students are exposed to a variety of post-secondary programs and potential career opportunities.


STEM - Minecraft & Robotics

This program is offered to 2nd-6th grade students at the Gibson-Bethel Community Center in South Miami. Our students will continue to develop their building skills and further their knowledge in architecture and civil engineering with Minecraft 7 Wonders.

hip hop dance and anti bullying

Hip Hop Dance is offered to K-6th grade student members of GBCC every Wednesday from 3 - 5 p.m.

Anti Bullying is offered to K-6th grade student members of GBCC every Friday from 2:30-6:00 p.m.
