2018-2019 Programs

The 2018-2019 school year was very successful. We were able to offer 7 programs at 5 different locations. Throughout 381 program days in the school year, we were able to provide 890+ program hours, 7,700+ snacks to 250+ students in our community.

Our STEM Programs

ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE SCHOOL

Frances S. Tucker Elementary

Our after-school program included academics, sports, STEM, art, dance and a free meal to 50 2nd-5th grade students of Frances S. Tucker Elementary School.

We expanded our existing program through a partnership with the Everglades Foundation.

George W. Carver Elementary

We provided a free After-School STEM and Sports Program at George W. Carver Elementary School in partnership with the Everglades Foundation.

This program was provided to 20 of the schools 2nd-5th grade students every Wednesday from 2-6PM.

Gibson-Bethel CommUNITY CeNter

We offered a free after-school STEM program at the Gibson-Bethel Community Center in South Miami, in partnership with Zaniac.

The program was offered to 90 K-6 student members at the location, and took place every Monday from 2:00-6:00PM.


Ponce de Leon Middle School

At Ponce de Leon Middle School we provided an after-school STEM Program every Wednesday from 4-5PM.

This program focused on robotics and coding to approximately 12 6th-8th grade members of the 5000 Role Models Program. 

ACADEMIC SUPPORT FOR
HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES

AFTER-SCHOOL STUDY HALL

We provided tutors to support a study hall that assisted student-athletes with school assignments as well as with preparation for the SAT and ACT standardized exams at Coral Gables Senior High School.

COLLEGE RECRUITING

Our staff was responsible for ensuring that all our high school participants graduated on time and had the opportunity, post-graduation to advance their educational and social development.  

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Students also participated in professional mentoring in partnerships that we have established in our community, including Publix Supermarkets, the Jey Hospitality Group, which manages two South Miami restaurants, and Coffey Burlington, Attorneys at Law.


TEACHER AIDS

Teacher Aids

We offered over two dozen teacher aids to Frances S. Tucker Elementary and Ponce de Leon Middle School, providing support to teachers of remedial English and Math, Honors and IB classes during a two-hour period of the school day. 

We identified that over 500 students benefited from this program at Ponce de Leon Middle School.

At Frances S. Tucker Elementary School, we provided support, aiding those classes supported by temporary instructors that included several ESOL students.   

SUMMER PROGRAMS

We provided a summer study hall program for high school students at Coral Gables Senior High School, from 8am to 9am four days a week. Supervised activities included tutorials to support completion of summer reading assignments and SAT/ACT preparations. 

Students that participated in this program earned eligibility to also participate in professional mentoring in partnerships that we have established with Publix Supermarkets, the Jey Hospitality Group, which manages two South Miami restaurants, and Coffey Burlington, Attorneys at Law.
